Product description
A solution for snoring must, above all, be effective and be worn regularly. Only then can it improve the sleeping situation of the person concerned.
This is why somnipax guard S works so well
Snoring occurs when the tissue in the area of the upper respiratory tract relaxes and slackens during sleep. In most instances the nose is involved in the cause of snoring in one way or another. Either as the main cause of snoring, or as is more frequently the case, in a contributory role.
A mandibular advancement device such as somnipax guard S is quite effective in preventing the tongue from sliding backwards into the throat while you sleep. How does this work? By shifting the lower jaw a few millimetres forwards and thus placing the muscles of the tongue under slight tension. Because of this slight tension, the tongue can no longer slide back into the throat. The airways thus remain free.
Therefore the somnipax guard S is so comfortable
somnipax guard S was developed for maximum comfort.
This is apparent the first time you bite into the mouthpiece. This refers to the sensation of just how much, or in this case, how little ‘’material you bite into”. The actual bite height after the customisation of the somnipax guard S is extremely low, only 2 mm. If you consider that the gap between the upper and lower teeth of the average person are separated by 4 mm in the, so-called, resting position anyway, the MAD only increases this distance by 1-2 mm. Which is hardly noticeable.
The superior comfort of somnipax guard S is also evident inside the mouth, i.e. in the area where the tongue rests. A wide MAD with a lot of material takes up the tongue’s valuable “resting space”. Not so with somnipax guard S. It is made from top quality medical grade plastic and can therefore be made considerably thinner compared to MADs of a similar calibre . In addition, the MAD has expansion slots so that it can be variably customised to a wide range of different jaw sizes. Other custom-made mandibular advancement devices have wider bite chambers and are comprised of perceivably more material.
The material of somnipax guard S is stable and yet pleasantly soft. This is the difference between this MAD and, for example, a dental MAD, which is usually made of hard plastic and has a much tighter fit.
One final core reason that the somnipax guard S is so comfortable is its customisability. The better a MAD is customised to your bite, the more precisely the MAD can be adapted to suite your individual requirements. The somnipax guard S with 8 different tensioning bands pushes the lower jaw forward between 0 mm and 12 mm and allows you to customise the MAD to suit your exact requirements.

Application
Snoring can have several causes. Depending on the cause, a special anti-snoring product could help. Often snorers first try using nasal dilators or nasal strips. However, these products only help your snoring is caused by restricted nasal breathing. If these products do not help, the cause of your snoring is different. Your snoring may be caused by narrowed upper airways. The somnipax guard S prevents this obstruction from occurring by gently pushing the lower jaw forward and thus placing the muscles of the tongue under slight tension. MADs can also be combined well with other auxiliary therapies. If your snoring occurs predominantly occurs when you sleep on your back, we recommend positional therapy (an anti-snoring backpack, anti-snoring t-shirt...). However, if you snore due to narrowed airways when you sleep in other positions than on your back, you can also benefit from a MAD. Another cause of snoring could be vibrating tissue in the palatal area. As a result of restricted nasal breathing the mouth is unconsciously opened. In this case you should try using a, so-called, anti-snoring mouth guard such as the somnipax shield.Return Policy

The customisation of the mandibular advancement device is done in the comfort of your own home and is limited to a few simple steps: First, heat the water to the optimum temperature using the thermometer supplied. Then place the upper mouthpiece in the water bath for two minutes. Remove the mouthpiece, remove any hot water and fit the mouthpiece over your upper teeth (the material will not be hot), press it against your upper teeth. The same procedure is repeated with the lower mouthpiece. Once the two parts have been customised to fit your bite, the next step is to attach and individually adjust the tensioning bands - the shorter the band, the greater the extent of the mandibular advancement. You can clean your mandibular advancement device (MAD) with mild soap and lukewarm water. Alternatively, put some mouthwash in a cup and clean the MAD with mouthwash and a toothbrush. After one minute at the most, remove the MAD from the cup containing mouthwash and rinse it with fresh water. For optimal cleaning results you can use special cleaning tablets or gels (such as BONYplus tablets or the Curaprox cleaners). Never use toothpaste or normal denture cleaners for cleaning! The ingredients can damage the surface of the MAD.
