Discomfort/pain in the lumbar region is an indication that the vest is fulfilling its purpose. In most cases, it’s a matter of getting used to wearing the vest – i.e., the discomfort/pain should subside after a short period of time. Occasionally, the discomfort/pain is also linked to an unsuitable mattress, which may be too hard or not suited for sleeping in the lateral position. In this case, a mattress topper either a traditional topper or a visco-elastic (memory foam) topper, may be of help. In the event of actually being forced to roll onto your stomach, a smaller back padding (Protector) or – for those with size M/L – removing small pieces of the back padding (Protector) may also be a solution. However, as previously stated, such discomfort/pain is usually an indication that the vest is effective and functioning well.
