What is the difference between “active” training devices and “passive” aids, such as mandibular advancement devices (MAD) or nasal dilators? Which is more effective?

Correct, in our assortment you can find “active” training devices, with which – if used regularly (and correctly) – you can achieve longstanding and successful results. Anti-snoring trainers serve to address the causes of the snoring rather than combat the symptoms. The FaceFormer requires special exercises, whereas the wearing of the DragonPearl trains the mouth and throat muscles. In this case, the desired results tend to come into effect only after several weeks (usually after approximately 6-8 weeks). Furthermore, the success of the snoring training varies and depends on several factors (especially the intensity of training and anatomical factors).

The “passive” products serve as aids that, for instance, help to prevent mouth breathing (somnipax shield – for open mouth snoring), or – with the help of a mandibular advancement – to put tension on the tissue, so that snoring can be reduced (MADs such as somnipax guard are for tongue-based snoring).

In other words: While the “passive” anti-snoring products help to combat symptoms of snoring relatively quickly, the training devices help to combat the causes of snoring in the long run. Insofar as possible, there is, of course, nothing to be said against using both types of therapy simultaneously – this is, however, a question of personal preferences and affordability.
