Product description

A solution for snoring must, above all, be effective and be worn regularly. Only then can it improve the sleeping situation of the person concerned.

This is why somnipax guard works so well

Snoring occurs when the tissue in the area of the upper respiratory tract relaxes and slackens during sleep. In most instances the nose is involved in the cause of snoring in one way or another. Either as the main cause of snoring, or as is more frequently the case, in a contributory role.

A mandibular advancement device such as somnipax guard is quite effective in preventing the tongue from sliding backwards into the throat while you sleep. How does this work? By shifting the lower jaw a few millimetres forwards and thus placing the muscles of the tongue under slight tension. Because of this slight tension, the tongue can no longer slide back into the throat. The airways thus remain free.

Therefore the somnipax guard fits perfectly

somnipax guard is one of the most sophisticated MADs on the market. Its design and material composition have been gradually optimised over the years. Thus, today we see a well thought-out product that can be optimally customised to fit all prevalent jaw sizes.

This is recognized by the fact that you practically always get a snug fit during the fitting process – no matter whether you bite into the soft, heated, waxy bite channel with a rather small or a quite large jaw. Because the thermoplastic filling compound has dental laboratory quality, it encloses the surfaces of the teeth comprehensively and thus ensures very good adhesion. In other words, the anti-snoring mouthpiece fits comfortably and snugly over the teeth, just like a well-fitted ski boot on the foot.

The excellent fit is also evident by the great freedom of movement that you enjoy when wearing the MAD. There are a total of 6 different tensioning bands with which the lower jaw can be pushed forward between 0-10 mm.

But that’s not all. somnipax guard is practically the only ready-made splint on the market that offers a special tensioning band length with which you can even achieve a, so-called, “negative feed”. This means that if you suffer from an overbite of 2-3mm, the MAD adjusts your jaw to what should be the natural jaw position. What is that good for? For snorers with retrognathia, i.e. people whose lower jaw is shifted slightly backwards in the resting position.

The standard tensioning band lengths of a MAD would shift their lower jaws too far forward.

How this works explained here in details.

The ease of adjustment and the outstanding quality of fit have made the somnipax guard one of the most popular mandibular advancement devices ever. With more than 500.000 MADs sold it is like the “VW Golf” among MADs.

Application

There are many causes of snoring. Depending on the cause, a special anti-snoring product could help. Often snorers first try using nasal dilators or nasal strips. However, these products only help your snoring is caused by restricted nasal breathing . If these products do not help, the cause of your snoring is different. Your snoring may be caused by narrowed airways in the throat. The somnipax guard prevents this obstruction from occurring by gently pushing the lower jaw forward and thus placing the muscles of the tongue under slight tension MADs can also be combined well with other auxiliary therapies. If your snoring occurs predominantly occurs when you sleep on your back, we recommend positional therapy (an anti-snoring backpack, anti-snoring t-shirt...). However, if you snore as a result of narrowed airways when you sleep in other positions than on your back, a you can also benefit from a MAD. Another cause of snoring could be vibrating tissue in the palatal area. As a result of restricted nasal breathing the mouth is unconsciously opened. In this case you should try using a, so-called, anti-snoring mouth guard.

The somnipax guard is not suitable for you if you: have a protruding lower jaw or a severe overbite, suffer from jaw pain, loose teeth, a serious gum, temporomandibular joint dysfunction or other jaw problems have chronic asthma or epilepsy wear braces, dentures, bridges or removable partial dentures or have problems with the upper or lower front teeth, are under 18 years of age. Instruction manual

The customisation of the mandibular advancement device is done in the comfort of your own home and is limited to a few simple steps: First, heat the water to the optimum temperature using the thermometer supplied. Then place the upper mouthpiece in the water bath for two minutes. Remove the mouthpiece, remove any hot water and fit the mouthpiece over your upper teeth (the material will not be hot), press it against your upper teeth. The same procedure is repeated with the lower mouthpiece. Once the two parts have been customised to fit your bite, the next step is to attach and individually adjust the tensioning bands - the shorter the band, the greater the extent of the mandibular advancement.
You can clean your mandibular advancement device (MAD) with mild soap and lukewarm water. Alternatively, put some mouthwash in a cup and clean the MAD with mouthwash and a toothbrush. After one minute at the most, remove the MAD from the cup containing mouthwash and rinse it with fresh water. For optimal cleaning results you can use special cleaning tablets or gels (such as BONYplus tablets or the Curaprox cleaners). Never use toothpaste or normal denture cleaners for cleaning! The ingredients can damage the surface of the MAD.
Here you will find detailed instructions for use of the somnipax guard MAD.
