How the Somnipax Shirt Works

Snoring, but also night-time breathing stops (“apnoea”), often occurs as a result of the throat tissue relaxing and becoming limp during sleep. If you sleep on your back, your tongue will fall back and constrict or temporarily block your airways.

The wedge at the back of the T-shirt allows you to sleep on your side (or stomach). If the tongue muscle then relaxes while you’re asleep, it will no longer fall back into the throat, but will move to the side towards your cheek – keeping your airways clear. and you will be able to sleep without any dangerous breathing interruptions or annoying snoring noise.

Application

The somnipax comfort shirt is the ideal solution to prevent sleeping on the back. It helps prevent you from rolling onto your back. Important note: if you snore regardless of your position and your mouth is (almost) always open, then positional therapy is not suitable for you. This is known as mouth snoring and is instead treated with an anti-snoring mouthpiece such as the somnipax shield.

How to choose the right size

Size Guide

Take a tape measure and measure the following values:

  • A - From the outer point of your right shoulder to the outer point of your left shoulder.
  • B - Half of the chest circumference at armpit height (for men) or at chest height (for women).
  • C - Half of the hip circumference.
  • D - From the highest point on your shoulders down to your hips.

Now compare these values with the values in the relevant size table for men or women.

For optimal therapy success, the T-shirt should fit snugly against the body. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size. The T-shirt runs slightly large.

When choosing your size for the somnipax shirt, please refer to our size chart. The T-shirt should form a close fit with your body, so should not be ordered in too large a size. Inflate the air cushion till full. Insert the air cushion into the opening provided on the T-shirt and close using the zip. Put the T-shirt on before going to bed. Now you can sleep easy without worrying about rolling onto your back. The T-shirt is machine washable – just ensure you remove the inflatable air cushion before washing.
